Google Chrome – can’t wait to try it out…tomorrow.
Google Chrome, Google’s own browser will be released tomorrow. I didn’t even know they were working on a browser, but then again, I don’t tend to follow tech news that much. On the official Google blog there’s also a comic book, explaining how they came up with their new browser and explaining the technology behind it and how it works. Still a bit too techie for me, but I had a lot of fun reading it. To be officially released in 100 countries tomorrow, I can’t wait to try it out. Anything that is non-Microsoft works for me.

Inspired by Opera
According to the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet, Google’s browser is inspired by the Opera web browser, something Opera users will recognize, since the Chrome user interface resembles that of Opera. In Opera too, the nine most visited web pages appear as thumbnails, just like they now do in Chrome. And also like in Opera, the tabs appear at the top of the page, not below the address bar, like in IE or FF.
Maybe unknown to much of the world, but true, Opera is a uniquely Norwegian product. It started out as a research project in Norway’s largest telecom company, Telenor, in 1994 and has since become one of the main web browsers, particularly in mobile devices.
