Some annoying things about TypePad: Stats
Now this is where WordPress really beats TypePad: Blog stats. Even free stat counters are seldom as comprehensive as what you get with WordPress. TypePad’s stats function is hardly worth mentioning, a simple hit counter, that’s what it is, basically. On the other hand, since TypePad allows you to insert JavaScript on your blogs, it’s easy to find a suitable free or paid counter for your TypePad blog. WordPress’ stats are simply great. I must admit that. Well, compared to TypePad. I can get better stats from a self-installed counter on TypePad, but that’s not what we are comparing here.
TypePad
As I said, Typepad is a mere hit counter, showing you the total number of pageviews per day, pages/posts when visited and referring address.
WordPress
WordPress is comprehensive. Apart from the summary page, giving you a graph of pageviews per day, week or month, you also get an instant view of top posts and referrers, search engine terms used and what links in your blog that your visitors clicked on. For each of these topics you can have a 7-day, 30-day, Quarter, Year and All Time view.
Conclusion
Not enough for an in-depth traffic analysis, but more than enough to tell you which part of your blog is popular and how you may improve other parts of your blog. That is an invaluable resource. Thank you, WordPress!
